On July 1, 2014, Universal Music Enterprises alongside Island Records and Tuff Gong, are celebrating the 30th Anniversary for one of the most infamous releases, with Legend 30th Anniversary Edition, a deluxe anniversary re-issue of Legend, packaged as a CD/Blu-ray Pure Audio Disc™ combo set, as well as on vinyl.

Bob Marley Legend 30th

Bob Marley’s Legend, originally released three years after his death, on May 8, 1984, is the momentous collection of tracks that represents the remarkable recording career of Reggae music’s most iconic figureheads. The world’s best-selling reggae album, Legend is an essential part in every Reggae collection with songs on this record that epitomize the Marley sound.

Paired with the originally released version of Legend, this new deluxe version offers the record’s 14 iconic hits and several others rarities, all upgraded to surround sound. Mixed in 5.1 by the Grammy® Award winning producer Bob Clearmountain on Blu-Ray Pure Audio Disc™ this version now includes the original, early studio version of “No Woman No Cry,” replacing the originally released 1975 live version. Also included are two unheard alternate takes of “Easy Skanking” and “Punky Reggae Party.” Found in the Marley vault, these two tracks replace the versions which were added to the Legend track-list for the remastered release in 2002.

Both the CD and Blu-Ray Pure Audio Disc™ are housed in a 28-page, case-bound book featuring extended liner notes, unseen photos and forewords written by Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, and liner notes by author of the book Marley, Christopher Farley. Legend 30th Anniversary Edition will also be made available on tri-color,(yellow, green and red, vinyl and pressed as a double gatefold LP, allowing for a higher fidelity sound quality that is closer to the original source.
