WATCH – Music Video of the Year: Slightly Stoopid – “No Cocaine” (ft. Inner Circle Capleton)
Video Director Jeff Pliskin of Raised Fist Propaganda went across the country to get exclusive footage of each artist. He captured Slightly Stoopid in the Red Rocks of Denver, CO as well as San Diego, CA and Inner Circle at Circle House Studios in Miami, FL. The shots with dancehall artist Capleton were filmed on the beaches of Long Beach, NY. The song, “No Cocaine” is an older Slightly Stoopid song that was remixed for the 2013 release of the Dub Rockers compilation. This video provides the visual aesthetics of the song and a well-deserved nomination for Music Video of the Year.

The Week Between the Holidays

Posted in Island Enthusiasts | Comments Off on The Week Between the Holidays

Thursday was a nice day at home celebrating Christmas with the family. Of course we ate too much but that is to be expected. LOL

Sunshine Cindy continues to get better which has allowed us to get out a little. Friday we went to the harbor with Tiffany. We stopped in at Harry T’s in the middle of the afternoon. The bar was packed. It took a while for us to get some seats. Tad was behind the bar. Lou came by to say hello. It was a festive atmosphere in there.

When we left we walked down to Crab Island Cantina. I talked to Mike for a while then we made a stop at Margaritaville. Becca was working there. It was nice to see her and say hello. One thing about Margaritaville in Destin…the bar service is slow. It has been this way from day one. Even with almost no one at the bar it takes forever to get served and even longer to pay your bill. On top of that I heard them saying they were out of Miller Lite and Mich Ultra. How can a major bar be out of two of the top selling beers?

Sunshine Cindy and Tiffany

We walked down to AJ’s to watch the sunset. On the way we saw Tony and Amy and caught up on the latest news with them. Then a little farther down we talked to Matt at his booth where he books charters. When we got to AJ’s we saw Sami. It turns out her son Layne and his new wife Tasha were in town and there. I have not seen Layne in about 10 years. He is in the Army now and he and Tasha make a great couple. I am happy for them both. While at AJ’s we also ran into Tom from Fishheads. He was there getting some sunset pics too.

Layne, Sami and Tashi at AJ’s

Saturday was more laid back. Sunshine Cindy and Tiffany went shopping. I made a stop at Landshark Pizza to watch some football and have some wings. That was the excitement for Saturday. Sunday I was back at Landshark to watch the Browns game. They were competitive but still lost. Oh well, wait till next year. Landshark filled up with Packer fans for the second game. John and Deb were there to watch the game. They are big Packer fans. The Pack won so they were all happy.

Sunshine Cindy and I met up with Alan and Jackie at the Ramada on the island for a few drinks in the evening. They had just got back into town. The Ramada had several touring basketball teams staying there. The lobby area was packed with kids. The kids were all nice and respectful. While we were there we heard the old Howl at the Moon is going to become a Mexican restaurant. Just what we need, another Mexican restaurant. That location should be some type of club like it was with Howl at the Moon. At least that’s my opinion! LOL

Have a great week. Be safe on New Year’s Eve. See ya on Thursday!

Fiction 20 Down – “Mr. Sunshine”
F20D
“Mr. Sunshine” Background:
After performing a live, intimate and invite-only studio performance for select die-hard fans, F20D independently released their live album titled, Live at the Hadabee, on Dec. 1st. The album includes longtime fan favorites as well 1 brand-new song, 2 covers, including “Nuthin’ But a ‘G’ Thang” by Dr. Dre Snoop Dogg.

Here’s what the group said when we asked for a little background on the song live-album:
“‘Mr Sunshine’ is a song we originally released on our ‘Where’s the Levity’ LP. It started as a simple tune conceived on my acoustic, but once I brought it into the studio with the guys, it took on a life of it’s own… specifically with the counter melody Dre (drummer/vocals) added to the mix. It became a fan-favorite as soon as we started playing it out live, which is the main reason it was included on ‘Live at the Hadabee’ set list. That private concert was an invite-only thank you to our most loyal fans – our street team dubbed the ‘f20dfam’ – So we had them choose the set list for us. That entire night was an absolute blast, but I can remember the place really going off when we did “Mr Sunshine”. –Jordan Lally (vocals/guitar/beats)

F20Down
Fiction 20 Down Background:
Fiction 20 Down, or often referred to online as F20D, is a 5 piece band from Baltimore, MD. Band members include, Jordan Lally as vocalist and guitar, D.J. Fritzges on the bass, Andre Toney drums and vocals and Wes Anderson on lead guitar.

In the Spring of 2011, producer Jordan Lally paired his vocals songwriting with bassist Deejmon and drummer/emcee Dre during a series of recording sessions at Jordan’s studio in Baltimore, MD. The result of these sessions was ‘Do Not Feed The Radio’ – Fiction 20 Down’s 5-song debut EP co-produced by Drew Mazurek (Linkin Park, Allman Brothers).

In 2012, Fiction 20 Down welcomed lead guitarist Wes Anderson into the fold. Wes relocated from Chicago to Baltimore and shortly after the newly minted 4-piece completed their first US tour. Highlighted by appearances at the California Roots Festival in Monterey, CA and Orioles’ Opening Day at Camden Yards in Baltimore, MD, the national tour wrapped in mid-summer and the guys immediately returned to the studio.

Jordan once again paired with Mazurek to produce Fiction 20 Down’s full-length follow-up ‘Where’s The Levity?’. The band spent time in multiple recording facilities throughout the mid-Atlantic recording the new LP. Upon it’s release in April of 2013 the album was hailed as “best new release” by the renowned Indie Rock Cafe.

When not in studio or on stage, Fiction 20 Down emphasize the importance of giving back. In addition to their various “hands-on” volunteer efforts, the band has played benefit concerts for over 30 charitable organizations since their inception.

F20D has their eyes set on a new music and national tours in 2015.

Rum Toddy

Rum Toddy

rumtoddy

Good aged rum, with its rich, complex sweetness, takes particularly well to heat; we’re barely adding any water here, though if you’re looking for something a bit mellower, feel free to dilute to taste. Don’t skip the lemon wheel. It may look like just a garnish, but its aromas will be unleashed as soon as the hot drink hits it.

Instructions: In a saucepan, gently heat 2 ounces of aged rum, 1/2 ounce of raw sugar simple syrup (Sugar in the Raw or similar, dissolved in an equal part hot water), 1 dash of Angostura bitters, and a 1/4 ounce of water. Slowly heat until just warmed through. Place a lemon wheel in a heat-safe glass and pour the warm cocktail over the top.
