I first became familiar with Raging Fyah, recently, during my interview with Jeff Monser and Dan Sheehan of California Roots Music Arts Festival. During my interview, I had asked them if there were any artist they were looking to book in the future and Dan replied: “I think an artist I’d like to look at next year would be Raging Fyah out of Jamaica.”
It wasn’t long after this interview that we were contacted by Lukes Morgan of Morgan Heritage encouraging us to give them a listen and after listening to their new album Destiny, we were honored they would allow us to post up the first track of the album, “Fight”, for FREE, as a way to introduce their music to the fans!
Here’s what the group told The Pier about “Fight”:
“The song is very sentimental to us, it’s one of the first set of songs to be recorded by us in 2007. It was during the time when dancehall music was the trend, and everybody told us that what we were doing was irrelevant. We felt compelled to play the music from our hearts, henceforth ‘fight is a living testimony of what we were going through and the struggles we had to overcome for our voices to be heard.”
The album, Destiny, was recorded in Jamaica with a special guest appearances from Kabaka Pyramid on the track “Dance With You”. The song was co-produced with Equiknoxx while “Nah Look Back”, was produced by Rory Stone-Love a long with production by Frankie Music on “Jah Glory”.
