From the Sun Sentinel: “Finally: Margaritaville plans ‘soft opening’ Tuesday”
Parrotheads, the wait is almost over. Soon you’ll be able to vacation away in Margaritaville. The new 349-room Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort will have a “soft opening” Tuesday for select travel agents, corporate group members and its first paying customers, a hotel spokeswoman said Monday. The first reservations begin Oct. 1.
The announcement, a long-held secret, came during a media tour of the resort, which includes 151 king rooms, 154 queen rooms and 44 suites, along with the Jimmy Buffett Suite and the Coral Reefer Suite, which will occupy the penthouse level.
On-site restaurants and bars include Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant, LandShark Bar Grill, License to Chill Bar, 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar Grill and an upscale restaurant, JWB Prime Steak and Seafood.
It’s not clear how many of its facilities will be open Tuesday or whether the public will have access to the resort before its official opening on Oct. 1.
Earlier this month, Buffett dropped in to surprise the resort’s hundreds of employees and gave a pep talk as they prepped for the resort’s opening. In his true barefoot style, Buffett talked about the Margaritaville brand and shared his excitement about the new Hollywood beach resort.
In October, the resort’s restaurants and bars are expected to be open to the public, but its pool and other amenities will be for registered guests only, a hotel spokeswoman said. The resort has not decided whether pool or resort passes will be sold to non-hotel customers.
