Looking for some Sexual Healing? Look no further… The Hip Abduction (THA) has given away their tropical house cover of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” as a thank you for supporting their kickstarter campaign! The band produced this recording live while playing at 2015 Hulaween Festival.
Formed in 2009 on the west coast of Florida, The Hip Abduction began their kickstarter campaign on November 2nd to raise money for their next album. Their goal was to raise $10,000; by the end of the campaign on December 2nd, they exceeded their goal at $17,605. With a clever marketing strategy, THA asked their fans to help them spread their next album to the world, “Be Our Record Label”.
They also offered a variety or packages that included pre-orders of the album, T-shirts, backstage passes and more. For the most extravagant pledge package, the band offered to play a house party for you and 150 friends! The band also gave away an instant download of their new tune, “Come Alive” to anyone that pledged during the campaign.
Six-man band, The Hip Abduction, is a band to keep look out for, as they are a band on the rise. Reggae inspired, THA set themselves apart from the scene with emphasis on African percussion and strings, labeling themselves as an afropop/indie/ tropical band.
The last record they released was their first, which dropped two years ago on Dec. 3rd, 2013. A self titled album that reached #5 on the Billboard charts, this record received high praise from The Pier with a 4.5 out of 5 Star Album Review that you can read by clicking HERE!
Since then, the band had built on their achievements by actively touring and writing their next album that they plan to release on March 11, 2016, titled Gold Under the Glow.
As we move quickly into the start of the New Year, bands across the board have been announcing their winter tours! THA announced that they would be on the road with The Expendables and Zack Deputy starting on January 27th.
