Sunday plans just got a whole lot easier in Florida this summer. Reggae Rise Up recently revealed their latest initiative, a monthly concert series held at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg, Florida called the Rise Up Sunday Sessions. On the last Sunday of each month this summer, Reggae Rise Up will host some of the reggae rock scene’s biggest names.
The summer series launches on Sunday, May 29th, 2016 with a performance by Savannah’s progressive rock-reggae quartet, Passafire. The show will also feature some home grown Florida talent, including performances by St. Petersburg favorites Resinated, the infectious Miami reggae outfit Jahfe, and Sidereal out of Jacksonville. Though the full summer lineup has yet to be announced, Reggae Rise Up confirmed that ultimate crowd-pleasers Nahko and Medicine for the People will rock out Jannus on the June 26th slot.
Reggae Rise Up is a premier production and promotional company that has become nationally recognized for their large scale reggae festivals in Utah and Florida. Dedicated to the growth of Florida’s reggae community, they recently held the 2nd Annual Reggae Rise Up Florida Festival at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg. More than 6,000 showed up to the March festival which featured top flight performers like Dirty Heads, Tribal Seeds, Stick Figure, Fortunate Youth, and a number of others.
In order to cover both sides of the Tampa Bay area, Reggae Rise Up is also hosting a second reggae series at Beach Bar | Restaurant in Tampa, FL. The monthly event has been dubbed Irie Vibes Saturdays. The two monthly music events put on by Reggae Rise Up guarantee that Florida’s Gulf Coast will receive its proper dose of reggae music this summer.
In case you can’t make it to Jannus Live or Beach Bar | Restaurant this summer (or just want to relive the experience), Reggae Rise Up has teamed up with the makers of the Florida-based acoustic web series Sugarshack Sessions to film every event. Be sure to check out their YouTube channel to catch up on all the action this summer.
