Posted in Jimmy Buffett News | Comments Off on Buffett, Bon Jovi, and McCartney perform at Clinton Fundraiser

Hillary Clinton wrapped up a fundraising blitz in the Hamptons where she has racked up millions during a three-day swing. The top-dollar tour concluded Tuesday night with an event in Sag Harbor complete with performances from Jimmy Buffett, Jon Bon Jovi and Paul McCartney.

On an outdoor stage, Buffett entertained for more than an hour, playing hits like “Margaritaville” and “Cheesburger in Paradise.” Bon Jovi serenaded the crowd with “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” and McCartney’s numbers included “Can’t Buy Me Love” and “Lady Madonna.” The trio closed out the show with a performance of “Hey Jude.” Attendees said Clinton even hit the dance floor with McCartney during one of Buffett’s numbers (Cheeseburger in Paradise).

McCartney joked with the crowd, according to fundraiser guests, saying that this was “the first time I’ve paid to hear myself sing.”

The events all raised money for the Hillary Victory Fund, a joint fund supporting her campaign, the Democratic National Committee and state party organizations.

Set List:
Come Monday (Buffett)
Who Says You Can’t Go Home (Bon Jovi)
Knees of My Heart (Buffett)
Volcano (Buffett)

Zach Deputy to Release Fourth Studio Record

Posted in Reggae Roots Music | Comments Off on Zach Deputy to Release Fourth Studio Record

On September 9th, 2016, Zach Deputy will release his 4th studio album Wash It in the Water. The multi-talented Savannah, Georgia-based artist played every instrument on the genre-defying 11-track album. Deputy recently dropped his premier single “Chevrolet” from the upcoming album.

Zach Deputy is able to capture the sound of a musical ensemble, all by himself. Deputy has mastered the art of looping, and incorporates beat-boxing, MPCs, a variety of pedals, and skillful guitar playing to create a truly unique live sound. Surrounded by gear, Deputy’s intricate rig often makes it appear as if he’s flying a plane rather than Zach-Deputy-Album-Coverplaying music. His sound intertwines dozens of genres, including soul, funk, reggae, folk, and pop, but Deputy says that Latin music is a driving influence in his sound.

“Because of the music I was raised on, I’ve always heard rhythm in a very tropical, Latin-esque way—it’s something that resonates in the deepest parts of me. When I was a kid my grandma would play a lot of salsa and soca and make me get up and dance to it, so in a way this is me putting my own spin on all that and bringing those sounds into a whole new era.”

Zach Deputy is a festival mainstay for his dance inducing grooves and wide ranging cross-over appeal. He’s also a Jam In The Van favorite, having recorded a number of songs for the popular web series. Currently, Deputy is wrapping up his summer tour dates, but will continue touring throughout the fall in support of Wash It in the Water. Deputy will be stopping at numerous East Coast venues, performing alongside Ballyhoo! and others, before heading west to California, Arizona, and Texas for a series of shows with fellow one-man jamband, Keller Williams.

You can pick up Zach Deputy’s new 11-track record via iTunes by clicking HERE!

The Making Of A CD/Album

Posted in Trop Rock Happenings | Comments Off on The Making Of A CD/Album

Going into the studio today. It takes a very different talent  doing studio work than playing live. It’s not often that a great live performer is a great studio musician, and visa versa. Doing studio work is a different ballgame all together.  Playing live is more like driving a Ferrari on a race track, whereas studio work is more like driving a tractor hoeing a field. It’s a very different discipline. Nashville, for instance, I recall hearing years back, has a pool of around 28 musicians they pull from to do a recording. That’s guitar players, keyboardists, bass players, and pedal steel players. 28 total, and they played on every Nashville cut on the radio. About a year ago there was a great movie out called “The Wrecking Crew” about a small group of musicians who were on so many hit songs, I couldn’t begin to count. The Beach Boys wanted to cut their own tracks, but after hearing The Wrecking Crew, they backed off. It’s a verry different talent, as I say.

Ian chose The Ramble Room Studios, on
Eaton Street, here in Key West. The Ramble Room has been open for
around a year, maybe a bit more, I’m guessing? I had not been there
as of yet, nor had I seen any pictures of it either.

Buffett to perform in Tulsa in Jan 2017

Posted in Jimmy Buffett News | Comments Off on Buffett to perform in Tulsa in Jan 2017

From Tulsa World “New Margaritaville in Tulsa a place to make people happy

If you love the Margaritaville Casino in Las Vegas, the one that opened Thursday in Tulsa is bigger and better.

If you love Margaritaville Cafe, Landshark Bar and Grill or the 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar, the ones opening in Tulsa are larger and more luxurious.

The Margaritaville Casino and Cafe, and many of the amenities that will eventually help serve guests of a 483-room hotel, opened during a star-studded grand opening on Thursday.

The only thing missing was Jimmy Buffett. And officials confirmed Buffett is tentatively scheduled to play the new Paradise Cove Theater at Margaritaville on Jan. 28.

Even though the ribbon has been cut for the casino and assorted bars and restaurants, still under construction are a 27-story hotel, 2,500-seat showroom and expansive pool deck with Margaritaville Tiki Bar and Landshark Landing Bar nestled along the Arkansas River. The “L” shaped pool will be surrounded by 120 loungers and 12 cabanas, and it will include a swim-up pool bar.

All of the resort is scheduled to be finished in January/February of 2017. That’s when Buffett, the music and lifestyle icon to millions of extremely loyal Parrotheads, is scheduled to come back to Tulsa for another ribbon-cutting, opening celebration.

Taco & Da Mofo’s Sixth Studio Record

Posted in Reggae Roots Music | Comments Off on Taco & Da Mofo’s Sixth Studio Record

5 piece Rock-Reggae-Bump group out of Memphis, TN known as Taco Da Mofos will celebrate the release of their sixth record on August 26th. The self-titled release is a follow up to last year’s Nocturnal Gold!

The 12 track record was recorded, from coast to coast, in Port Orchid, WA to Jackson, TN to Clearwater, FL. The final mixing was done by Alex Romero (Game of Thrones) at Cleartrack Studios. The group started the writing process for the new record back in the Spring and in less than a few months had written and recorded the new Self-Titled record.
TADM
Vocalist, Keela Case, tells The Pier: “We traveled to Washington in April where we wrote and did pre-production on all of the songs. The actual production of the album started in early June and we finished in mid July, so from concept to completion it only took 3 months. This was definitely the fastest and most naturally flowing of a process we’ve ever partaken in on this level. We just started firing off on all cylinders and took a different approach on this one, and everything started banging out so fast that it just seemed natural to go ahead and release it to the world sooner than later.”

The group took a more creative approach with this record, ditching any A-B-C structure or mentality and just doing what felt right when approaching each track: “Taco and I actually took a road trip to Washington (the state) and started writing and knocking out song ideas with our DJ, Flip, who came back in the fold for this project to help on the programming side of things for drums and sounds. Then we took the ideas back to Tennessee where our drummer Reno laced the songs with drums and then Charlie and Boggy came in to drop bass and some guitar parts. As soon as that was done, me and Taco trucked it down to Florida to finish all of the mixing with Alex Romero and the end result is what you’ll hear now.”

While the album was put together inside a couple of months, it’s condensed within a journey that saw the group create a new record from coast to coast inside of 3 months. “At the end of the day, it was so us and such an organic process with no over thinking moments for us that coming up with an actual album name wasn’t possible. Because the album was simply who we are at this very moment in time. Taco Da Mofos. So Taco brought it up and we all were like, boom, self-titled it is!”

The new record sees the group blending newer age reggae styles with electronic drums, synths and effects to surmise a record and sound unique to their name. When reviewing their first album, Nocturnal Gold, that was released July 2015, it received a 3.5 out of 5 Star Album Review with our own Andrew Aroche stating: “I found listening to ‘Nocturnal Gold’ to be a lot like watching an action movie. It’s good not because of its artistic merit, but rather because it’s simply entertaining. This is a fun album, and that’s exactly what I want from a band with a name like Taco Da Mofos.”

Taco Da Mofos are creative in the way they’re able to entertain us with their unique approach toward creating their music. You can find out for yourself by picking up their new, self-titled record on iTunes by clicking HERE!
