From the Orlando Sentinel: “Margaritaville Resort Orlando expands hotel size”
A hotel proposed for Margaritaville Resort Orlando is going to be larger than originally expected — by 12 rooms.
Original plans called for a 175-room hotel, part of the larger 300-acre lifestyle property being built on the U.S. 192 corridor in western Osceola County. Now, the hotel will have 187 rooms.
The increase in rooms was announced Wednesday when resort leaders said they are exceeding sales projections for other properties in the first phase of construction, with more than 250 reservations and deposits for homes and units there.
Margaritaville Resort Orlando, formerly known as the MargaritaVillage Resort, also features 1,000 Margaritaville-themed vacation homes and 300 timeshare units.
The first phase is expected to open by the end of 2017. A sales office will open Oct. 1.
Additionally, plans call for 30,000 square-feet of function space, 200,000 square feet of retail, a dining and entertainment district, a 12-acre water park open to the public, a wellness center, wooded fitness trails and a water taxi system.
An early concept map on the development’s website offers a snippet of information about what types of amenities and attractions would be built at the water park, details of which have not been released.
Amenities listed include cabanas, a cave, river channel, activity pool, a children’s pool and slides. A dual FlowRider, offers an unbreakable wave of motion for boogie boarding or surfing, is also shown.
