Across Florida this year, anglers will get a chance to lend a hand to make the waterways better at a series of Trash Tours organized by Swamp Head Brewery, Hell’s Bay Boatworks and Coastal Conservation Association Florida (CCA Florida). The series of trash cleanup events around the state will help clean up garbage from our coastal waterways, and participants will not only get the reward of a job well done, but enjoy free beverages and some takeaway gifts.
Each Trash Tour stop will be run as a tournament-style trash round up with a ton of prizes.
The 2017 Trash Tour dates and locations include:
• Cedar Key: Saturday, March 25, 6am-1pm, Cedar Cove Marina.
• Titusville: Saturday, April 22, 6am-1pm, Parrish Park.
• Jacksonville: Saturday, June 10, 6am-1pm, Jim King Park Boat Ramp at Sisters Creek Marina.
• Steinhatchee: Saturday, August 26, 6am-1pm, Sea Hag Marina.
• St. Augustine: Saturday, November 4, 6am-1pm, Location TBD.
Come on out, lend a hand and have some fun. There is no entry fee or other costs associated with the Trash Tour and volunteers can gather trash on foot or by boat. For more information and to register, go to www.swamphead.com/trash-tour. Participants are encouraged but not required to pre-register. Each participant in the Trash Tour will walk away with goodies.
Please come out and join us for a good time and a day of coastal conservation that benefits us all. Many thanks to Costa Sunglasses, Academy Sports Outdoors and Drummond Community Bank for sponsoring the Trash Tour.
As we all know too well, debris in the waterways poses a threat to people, marine life, and wildlife. It can cause economic losses, reduce navigational safety, and damage habitats along our fragile coastlines. Please consider joining Swamp Head, Hell’s Bay Boatworks and CCA Florida at one or all of these coastal cleanup events for a good time and a job well done.
