After much research and even more agonizing over which way to go, I finally decided to start small–and cheap–and went with an AEV 2″ Suspension Lift for my 2-month old 2017 Willys Wheeler JK. I read nothing but good things about this lift and it certainly helped that it was relatively easy on the wallet. Plus, I just couldn’t bear to pull off perfectly good, brand new stock parts that I had just bought via the Willys package. And I liked that I could keep my stock wheels, which I love, and stock tires, which I don’t, but when the tires wear out I’m sure I’ll go with 33s. Maybe sooner.
Although AEV doesn’t market this lift as such, it’s also a leveling kit. I gained 2.5 in front and 1.5 in the rear. I haven’t noticed any difference in the handling or the ride except that I can now see more of my hood as I drive down the road. I never lifted my old JK so I tend to notice little things like that.
Next on my list is to replace the crummy plastic bumpers.
