Hey yall! I have a ’90 4.2, and lately I have been having an issue where the carb bogs under heavy throttle. My Jeep will start right up and idle fine besides an occasional pop from the exhaust, however while driving any throttle over ~60-70% will result in extreme bogging. I can drive around the neighbourhood, but the Jeep basically wont go any faster than 45 and it is more or less impossible to drive in fourth or fifth gear.
In the last few months I have put a new Carter BBD, EGR, ICM, fuel pump, and new spark plugs on amongst other things. I have since then taken the carb off and double checked that I put it on right. Timing probably isn’t perfect but I’ve checked it multiple times and got it as close to the factory settings I can. I have tried messing with the tuning but I’ve had a hell of a time finding good info on how to tune this thing.
Does anybody have any idea what could be causing this bogging? Is there some issue I’m overlooking or is the carb just way out of tune? Thanks in advance for any help!
