New Zealand reggae, soul singer and songwriter, Sammy Johnson (a.k.a. Sammy J) has announced his Fall headlining Mixed Feelings tour where he will have special guest and Maui native, Anuhea.
Since 2012, Sammy J has released a string of singles and collaborations in addition to a pair of 8 track albums with Prelude in 2013 and Lion Roar in 2016. He plans to continue releasing singles throughout 2017 while putting the final touches on a new album that will drop in early 2018 via Island Empire Records. The Mixed Feelings Tour will show him supporting his upcoming single titled “Sleepwalker.”
Anuhea will be opening up the tour and bringing with her a brand-new album, Follow Me that is set to drop Oct. 6th, four days before tour starts. She’s quoted as describing her record as: “Very pop production on most songs, but with deep thoughts and stories of my life in the familiar Anuhea style that you may know and love. Of course there’s some island reggae jams in there.” She just released a new music video for her single, “I Won’t Settle,” that you can find below.
The tour is mostly east-coast and concluding in the mid-west starting October 10th at the Vinyl Music Hall in Pensacola, FL and will conclude on October 27th in Denver, CO at the Marquis Theatre. Sammy J brings a soulful voice over pop with RB and reggae textures in an island setting. I’m sure we’ll see some on-stage collaborations between the 2 artists, not to mention a lot of new music being performed.
