Hi All,

My name is Dave and I live in northern IN. I am in the middle pf purchasing a 2016 Rocky Ridge K2 Sahara unlimted with 13,000 miles. My last jeep was a Jeep Scrambler in the mid 80’s and I look forward to learning about them all over again.

Any insight on the Rocky Ridge K2 that anyone would like to share? I am going to go see the Jeep in person Sunday, it looks really great in the pictures. In addition to the K2 package the owner had his local dealer install 4:11 gears front and rear. (Automatic transmission, 35″ wheels) I am coming from two decades of Ford F150’s so I know I am going to be in for a bit of a culture shift but looking forward to it!

Swapping Lift springs

Posted in Jeep Wranglers | Comments Off on Swapping Lift springs

Hi all,
I’ve done some searching, but want to verify my thinking. I am working to slightly de-mod my recently purchased 2013 JKU. It has 37’s and a 4.5+ lift on it, just a bit too much for decent road manners. I’m doing several things, but want to replace the springs and drop it a bit. So, does this sound like it will work in my driveway?

1. disconnect swaybar, brake line/speed sensor mounts, shock.
2. jack one corner from the axle a few inches
3. Place jackstand under frame
4. Remove wheel/tire
5. Lower jack under axle and let it droop
6. remove bumpstop
7. Replace spring
8. reverse order of operations and move to next corner
9. Profit!

I’m planning on using the metal cloak dual rate 3.5 springs which I know are long, but I’m optimistic I can get enough droop to make it work. I am thinking the one corner at a time just for safety reasons. Am I crazy thinking this will work?

Thanks!

Rock Krawler Lift Question

Posted in Jeep Wranglers | Comments Off on Rock Krawler Lift Question

I am looking to lift my 2016 Unlimited Sport and think I have narrowed down the brand to Rock Krawler. I am now deciding between the 2.5 Flex System or the 3.5 Flex System. I like the height of the 3.5 but not sure if I want to spend the money right now to lift it “correctly”. Rock Krawler states that all their lifts are upgradeable but how easily can I go from the 2.5 to the 3.5 flex system? It looks like the differences from these kits by just looking on the website is the 3.5 has an extra set of extended brake lines, taller springs and another pair of sway bar links. Would it be as easy as swapping out the 2.5 springs for the 3.5 springs and adding the other two parts that were not included in the 2.5 kit? I know that once you lift above a 2.5″ lift you have to start spending some extra money to keep the stock ride quality. I plan to run 35’s now as its my DD but eventually I want to run 37’s. I am new to the jeep world so be easy on me!

Any advice is appreciated.

Dana/Spicer 35C c-clip removal

Posted in Jeep Wranglers | Comments Off on Dana/Spicer 35C c-clip removal

New Jeep owner here…however, I’ve been working on this Jeep so much that I don’t consider myself new at fixing it. I am replacing the pinion bearing/seal, rear wheel bearings/seals, and U-joint. Also, this Jeep has an air actuated ox locker. I have the left axle removed. But the right axle will not slide inward enough to remove the c-clip. I’ve seen numerous threads on this but none with a result or fix. Does anybody have any info they can pass along?

If I’ve left out any pertinent info, I apologize.

Is this a fair price? – 1997 TJ

Posted in Jeep Wranglers | Comments Off on Is this a fair price? – 1997 TJ

Hello, I just joined the forum today and am seeking advice if this is a good deal or not. The Jeep is local but I’ve not yet gotten to go look at it. It is a 1-owner 1997 TJ 4.0L with 125,000 miles, manual trans, new tires, seller says its in great shape and only has the soft top. He only posted two pics with the cover on so you can’t see the roll cage/pass compartment. The asking price is $6500.

Assuming it is totally stock and in “great condition” (CL ad says “excellent”), what would be a fair, realistic CL market sales price in southern Arizona? I see several 1997-2000 year models around Tucson/Phoenix, highly modified with 150-200k miles asking anywhere from $4500-14000. KBB.com lists Private Party price as $5200-5600. I plan on using it as a weekend toy to take my wife and kids out exploring the desert or to school, not gonna build it for hardcore wheeling/crawling – just maybe a lift in the future.

Thanks for any input.
